Peter F. Drucker (1909-2005), geb. und aufgewachsen in Wien, studierte und arbeitete als Wissenschaftler, Journalist und Bankkaufmann in Europa, bevor er 1937 in die USA ging. Dort arbeitete er zunächst für eine Britische Banken- und Versicherungsgruppe, später als Managementberater für die größten amerikanischen und führende internationale Unternehmen. Drucker hat gleichzeitig als Hochschullehrer Karriere gemacht, beginnend mit mit einer Professur für Politik und Philosophie am Bennington College, dann für mehr als zwanzig Jahre als Professor für Management an der Graduate Business School der Universität New York und schließlich seit 1971 als Clarke-Professor für Sozialwissenschaften an der Claremont Graduate School in Kalifornien.
