Géants des mers chaudes

En Afrique, Anita Conti (1899-1997) est une légende. De l'embouchure de la Mellacorée jusqu'au río Núñez, de la Casamance à la Gambie, la première femme océanographe française demeure «la Dame blanche». C'est qu'après la deuxième guerre mondiale elle est chargée d'établir les cartes de pêche des côtes africaines. L'enjeu est considérable : il s'agit de sauver les populations de la famine et de corriger leurs terribles carences en protéines.
Anita Conti réussira au-delà de toute espérance, prospectant des milliers de kilomètres de côtes, installant des pêcheries, découvrant l'extraordinaire richesse en vitamines A des poissonsscies, requins-marteaux et requins-tigres, les «géants des mers chaudes».
