Les Précieuses ridicules est la première comédie
imprimée de Molière, mais le texte publié
n'est que l'image silencieuse de ce qui fit en 1659
son succès immédiat : un théâtre vivant et neuf,
car cette courte pièce en un acte et en prose
affichait son parti pris en faveur du spectaculaire,
du jeu des acteurs, de ce qu'on voit et qu'on entend,
de ce que l'écrit justement ne transmet pas.
Sa nouveauté prit à rebours les idées reçues
sur la comédie : spectateurs conquis et rivaux
dépassés surent alors que plus rien ne serait
comme avant sur les scènes parisiennes
du XVII^e siècle.
