Estelle M. Phillips has enjoyed a long career as an academic and independent educational consultant. She has published widely on various aspects of the PhD process and has spoken at universities on four continents about the skills required to complete and supervise a PhD.Derek S. Pugh was a prominent thinker in management and business studies and a prolific writer. After an illustrious career spanning many achievements in research and teaching, he became Emeritus Professor of International Management of the Open University Business School, UK.The new edition features contributions from Colin G. Johnson, Reader at the School of Computing and Faculty Director for Graduate Studies, University of Kent, UK. Colin regularly supervises PhDs and brings his extensive experience of supporting doctoral students to the new edition.
