Guided by a visionary widow named Julia Tuttle, the city of Miami truly came into being in 1896 and has not stopped growing. Howard Kleinberg is the former editor of the Miami News and a retired columnist for the Cox News Service, as well as for the Miami Herald. He has written six books on South Florida history. Arva Moore Parks is an author, historian, and community leader. She has written, edited, or contributed to more than 20 books on South Florida history.
