Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy finds George Smiley (Gary Oldman), a recently retired MI6 agent, doing his best to adjust to a life outside the secret service. However, when a disgraced agent reappears with information concerning a mole at the heart of the service, Smiley is drawn back into the murky field of espionage. Tasked with investigating which of his trusted former colleagues has chosen to betray him and their country, Smiley narrows his search to four suspects - all experienced, skilled and successful agents - but past histories, rivalries and friendships make it far from easy to pinpoint the man who is eating away at the heart of the British establishment.

    Malgré les critiques hautes en couleur, le film laisse un goût d'inachevé et de déception. L'intrigue simpliste est tournée en véritable casse-tête. La réalisation est propre, mais comporte trop de plans longuets et soporifiques. Dommage, car l'ambiance guerre froide est très bien adaptée du livre.

    Sich in die Länge ziehende, mühsame Verfilmung eines komplizierten Romans. Wie alles von Le Carré. Topleistung jedoch von Oldman & Co.

    John le Carrés Romanvorlage liefert natürlich eine spannende Geschichte. Sie wurde hier mit genialen Schauspielern und Bildern umgesetzt. Es empfiehlt sich sicherlich, den Film einigermassen nüchtern zu geniessen.

    Intelligenter Arthouse-Spionagethriller der ohne Action auskommt. Durch die vielen Rückblenden und die Vielzahl von Personen ist die Handlung etwas verwirrend. Dafür punktet der spannende Film mit ausgezeichneten schauspielerischen Leistungen.

    Die jüngeren Jahrgänge können sich die Hysterie der "westlichen Welt" gegenüber der kommunistischen kaum vorstellen. Es wurde eine Propaganda inszeniert, die natürlich von den "Roten" nicht unbeantwortet bleiben durfte. Chauvinismus regierte damals die zwei Blöcke der Welt. Fazit: Die Geschichte spielt anfangs der 70er Jahre. Der Prager Fühling war gerade ein paar Jahre alt. Das Misstrauen der zwei Blöcke überträgt sich auf das Innenleben des MI6. Diese Spannung wer hat einen charakterlich schwachen Punkt kreiert eine ungewöhnliche Atmosphäre. Geheimdienste arbeiten überwiegend unspektakulär und ruhig. Genau so ist auch der Film inszeniert. Manche werden dabei einschlafen und verpassen dabei ein formidables Darstellerensemble.
