'Textual Possessions' is Peter Philpott's first poetry collection for many years. He has always been noted for his work in longer forms, above all the poem-sequence, and this volume brings together three such long sequences written over the past ten years: "In the Present Historic Sense", a wonderful poem of place that concerns itself with the author's native North-West Somerset, plus "On Being Voiced", and "An Encounter Upon the Beach at Minehead With the Prince of This World".

Peter Philpott was born in Martock, Somerset in 1949, moving to Minehead later in his childhood. He attended the University of Keele. He lives in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire, and teaches media and film in a Further Education College in Essex. From 1971 to 1981, initially with Bill Symondson, he ran the 'Great Works' magazine and small press, and started the www.greatworks.org.uk website in 2001. He had books published by Ferry Press and Grosseteste Press in the early 1980s, and appeared in the anthology 'A Various Art' (edited by Andrew Crozier & Tim Longville, Carcanet, 1987).
