Ein Verständnis der Prinzipien des Europäischen Patentsystems und seiner wesentlichen Verfahrenselemente ist unabdingbar für eine erfolgreiche Patentverfolgung für Europa.
Das vorliegende Werk ist eine Einführung und Vertiefung in dieses Gebiet für Interessierte und Studenten z.B. als Vorbereitung für die Europäische Zulassungsprüfung. Es basiert auf jahrelanger Vorlesungserfahrung und bringt die komplexe Thematik didaktisch aufbereitet mit vielen Zwischenzusammenfassungen, graphischen Darstellungen und praxisbezogenen Übungen eingängig und lebendig näher. Das Werk soll angesichts der schnell ändernden Rechtsgrundlagen in diesem Gebiet wenigstens alle 2 Jahre neu aufgelegt werden und damit stets aktuell sein.
Der Autor:
Tobias Bremi ist Patentanwalt und Dozent an der ETH in Zürich. Des weiteren ist er Tutor für die Ausbildung von Europäischen Patentanwälten beim CEIPI Institut, Strasbourg.

A profound understanding of the principles of the European patent system and of its important procedural elements is essential for a successful patent prosecution for Europe. The book is intended as an introduction into this field and a consolidation for interested people and in particular for students for example as a preparation for the European qualification examination. It is based on lecturing experience of many years and conveys the complex issues in a lively, practical and didactical manner including many intermediate summaries, graphical representations and nuts and bolts exercises.
The content:
- The didactic concept behind this book is to have many graphical illustrations for conveying the essential ideas and concepts. These illustrations in some cases simplify for the sake of clarity, but from experience they proved to be useful for the students.
- Further some aspects are intentionally discussed not only once but several times in different contexts and in different depth for introducing them smoothly.
- The main aspects are summarized in a box at the end of each part and small questions, the answers to which are given at the end of the book, shall serve the student to check whether he/she has grasped the essentials.
- As a guide to the students and to make them familiar to the most important terms and expressions in all three official languages, these terms and expressions are given in brackets and in italics in German and French and an index is given in each of the three official languages.
In view of the rapidly changing legal basis in this field it is intended to re-release the book at least every two years to make sure it is up-to-date.
