This book addresses aging in the setting ofthe "Knowledge Economy" and indicates that aging inthe "Knowledge Economy" does not necessarily justmean challenges, but also means unprecedentedopportunities. This argument is made based oncritiquing and interpreting economic andgerontology theories, presenting empirical data andanalyses, and a case study. This book connects theuniqueness of the "Knowledge Economy" with thecrises that an aging population is predicted tobring about. It also points out the valuablequalities of seniors. Built on theories, empiricaldata, and case study, this book presents evidencethat seniors have a special and powerful role topush the growth of the "Knowledge Economy" and thatthe "Knowledge Economy" facilitates seniors'socioeconomic activities and enhances their lifequality. It is this dynamic interaction betweenthe "Knowledge Economy" and seniors' capacity forsocioeconomic activities that transforms thepredicted aging-related crises into newopportunities.

Dr. Ting Zhang's research focuses on labor, aging, knowledge economy, and regional growth. Zhang, a Ph.D. in Public Policy, is a winner of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Dissertation Fellowship, the finalist title in the Charles Tiebout Prize for Regional Science, the Public Policy Paper Competition by Virginia Dept. of Transportation, etc.
