Prof. Dr. Ernst Pöppel gilt als einer der führenden Hirnforscher Deutschlands. Er war Gründungsvorstand des Instituts für Medizinische Psychologie und des Humanwissenschaftlichen Zentrums an der Universität München. Seit langem befasst sich Pöppel auch mit Fragen des demographischen Wandels; so hat er in Bad Tölz das universitäre Projekt "Generation Research Program" (GRP) aufgebaut.
