She, Passion and Shapeshifter seeks to understand folklore narratives such as ballads and fairy tales in the broad context of language, culture and gender studies. It focuses on direct or mediated through culture codes lexical representations of male and female identities. The author offers thought-provoking interpretations of the folklore chraracters' gender roles and behavior. The book dwells on three classic stories from England, Russia and Turkey: "The Ballad of Tam Lin", "Finist the Bright Falcon" and "Patience-Stone".
