Dr. Johanna L. Degen
is a social and media psychologist affiliated with the Europa-Universität Flensburg, Germany. She is studying relationships, intimacy, and sexuality with a focus on the meanings of digitalization for subjects and society. Besides academia, she is a couple and family counselor and sex therapist. In this book, she combines insights from both world –empirical findings, the current state of research, and observations from clinical practice– to theorize contemporary parasociality and its evolving significance.
