Ulteriori informazioni

This book presents the world's largest collection of vesuvianite supergroup minerals from different types of localities worldwide. The majority of the data used for the publication in the book was obtained by authors as a result of research of a collection of 170 samples of vesuvianite supergroup minerals via multimethodical approach based on electron microprobe and elemental HCN analyses, ICP mass spectrometry, crystal structure refinement, IR, NMR, Mössbauer, photoelectron and optical absorption spectroscopy as well as methods of the analysis of thermal and optical properties. In the course of this work, five new mineral species belonging to the vesuvianite supergroup were discovered. The comparison of data obtained by the authors with the totality of literature data on these minerals from more than 200 sources made it possible to draw some important general conclusions. In particular, crystal chemical and spectroscopic characteristics have been identified that can be used as geochemical indicators.

Sommario

1.Mineralogical, petrological and structural diversity of vesuvianite-supergroup minerals.- 2.Experimental methods.- 3.Minerals of the vesuvianite supergroup.- 4.New data on the crystal chemistry of VSMs and their application in geology.
