Under Hitler, Munich was the "Capital of the Nazi Movement". From 1931, the Nazi Party made the city its administrative centre, and the "Führer" had a private residence here up to 1945. The SS was founded in the Bavarian capital, and from here spread its reign of terror across the whole of the German Reich.
