This book describes the evolution of the old reading project - the 10-minute reading project - into the new reading project - Lesen10. While the old reading project focused on fiction, the new reading project has been broadened to include both fiction and non-fiction texts. The teaching staff at PNMS saw the need for reform in the constant use of non-fiction texts in school subjects. Texts must be understood in order to be processed adequately. For example, questions must be answered, questions about the text must be asked, paragraphs must be put in the correct order, etc. However, this requires skills that must be learned and are not available from the outset. With the help of reading techniques and strategies, pupils are given tools to analyse and break down texts and check them against the respective requirements.
