Acts of Alignment talks of the aspirations and desires of women in higher education in the fields of mathematics and science; of their journey to wholeness and excellence that comes from having the choice and flexibility to create and change their roadmaps at will and thus succeed in a world in which the accepted way of knowing has been different from theirs. This book analyzes women's alignment of their environment, visions, and missions in life. Using the voices of women, this book explores the motivations, competence, and self-perceptions of women and the equality of opportunity afforded them to fully participate in their life and work environments.

The Authors: Ana Pasztor is Professor of Computer Science at Florida International University. She received her Dr. rer. nat. degree in mathematics from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. She has published extensively in professional journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings in the areas of mathematics, theoretical computer science, artificial intelligence, and cognitive science.
Judith J. Slater is Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction at Florida International University. She received her Ed.D. from the University of Florida and has published extensively in professional journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings. She is the author of Anatomy of a Collaboration and is currently working on the text Teen Life in Asia.
