The work was carried out in the rural community of Passagem do Rio, Mossoró/RN. The aim was to raise awareness among the community's residents about the correct disposal of pollutants, with an emphasis on waste oils and fats. The methodology consisted of an educational lecture on the subject, ending with evaluative feedback, followed by a workshop to make soap, with a final hedonic scale test. The following results were obtained: 70% of the participants consume between 3 and 6 bars of bar soap and use between 1 and 3 liters of oil on average per month, but 60% of the participants dispose of the waste oil and fat in the soil, contributing to environmental pollution. The degree of acceptance regarding texture, consistency and foam formation was 100%. It was found that recycling this waste is beneficial for the community.
