Teachers can have a positive influence on learners' motivation to learn through appreciative communication. In order for learners to be motivated to learn, interpersonal relationships combined with appreciative treatment are of paramount importance. To achieve this, a language is needed that places appreciation at the centre of relationships. One such language is non-violent communication (NVC) according to Marshall B. Rosenberg.
