This volume comprises of the proceedings of The Twelfth International Conference on Technological Ecosystems for Enhancing Multiculturality (TEEM). It reflects outstanding advances, with a multidisciplinary perspective, in the technological ecosystems that support Knowledge Society building and development. TEEM is divided into fifteen thematic and highly cohesive tracks, each of which is oriented to a specific community of interest, including researchers, professionals, and students. Rafael Molina Carmona is currently an Associate Professor in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Alicante, Spain. He is a Graduate in Computer Science at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain), and has a Doctorate in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Alicante, with the unanimous qualification of 'Cum Laude', and received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award in 2004. He heads the 'Smart Learning, Intelligent Technologies for Learning' research group, and is part of GTI4U, a team of researchers and Information Technology (IT) professionals from different universities, at an international level, for research and implementation of IT governance systems and digital transformation in universities. He is a member of the Association of University Teachers of Computer Science (AENUI). His research interests mainly include the applications of Artificial Intelligence in different fields, such as computer-aided design and manufacturing, learning, and education and IT governance. He has published 38 papers in high impact scientific journals, 29 book chapters with scientific publishers, 4 research books, and a teaching manual. He has also presented more than 80 papers in national and international congresses and conferences related to his research and teaching.
Carlos J. Villagrá Arnedo is currently a Professor at the University of Alicante (Spain), and has been working in the department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence since 1999. He obtained a second-cycle undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain), and a PhD in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Alicante, and received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award in 2018. He is a researcher in the Research Group ‘Smart Learning: Intelligent Technologies for Learning’ and a member of the Association of University Teachers of Computer Science (AENUI). His research work focuses on the areas of Artificial Intelligence and the application of video games in the field of education’.
Patricia Compañ Rosique is an Engineer in Computer Science at the University of Alicante (UA), Spain, and obtained her PhD in Computer Science from UA. Since 1994 she has been working as a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at UA, where she has been a full professor since 2008. She has held positions of leadership and management since she joined UA, including Deputy Head of Computer Engineering of the Polytechnic School (2009-2012), and Deputy Director of the Polytechnic School (2012-2013). She has taught various subjects throughout her teaching career, especially computer programming and artificial intelligence (AI). Her research interests are within the application of AI techniques, such as evolutionary algorithms for solving mathematical problems, and neural networks applied to coastal engineering problems. Furthermore, she works in game development and the application of digital technologies to education. She is a member of the Association of University Teachers of Computer Science (AENUI).
Francisco José García-Peñalvo is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Automation at the University of Salamanca (USAL), Spain, with four six-year periods of research, one six-year period of transferring and innovation, and five five-year periods of recognized teaching. Professor García-Peñalvo received the Gloria Begué award for teaching excellence in 2019, and the Maria de Maeztu award for research excellence in 2023. He was a Distinguished Professor at the School of Humanities and Education at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico (2016-2018), and is a Researcher of International Impact at the Universidad Nacional San Agustín, Arequipa, Peru. Since 2006, he has been the head of the Research Group Recognized by the USAL GRIAL (The research GRoup of InterAction and e-Learning). He is currently the Deputy Director of the Research Institute for Educational Sciences, the Rector's Delegate for Digital Learning and Teaching, and the Coordinator of the Doctorate Programme in Education in the Knowledge Society at USAL. He is Editor-in-Chief of the journals Education in the Knowledge Society and Journal of the Information Technology Research, and Associate Editor of many other journals, such as IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Transactions on Learning Technologies, IEEE Access, Computers in Human Behavior, and Computers in Human Behavior Reports. He has also published more than 100 research papers in journals.
Alicia García-Holgado is currently an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Salamanca, Spain. She belongs to the GRIAL (The research GRoup in InterAction and e-Learning), focusing on developing technological ecosystems for knowledge management, and learning processes in heterogeneous contexts. Additionally, she leads the research line on promoting diversity and inclusion in the STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) field. She is also a board member of the Women in Computing Committee of the Scientific Society of Spanish Informatics, and coordinator of the CLEI (Latin American Centre for Computer Science Studies) Community for Latin American women in computing. She participated in more than 50 national and international research projects.
