Ernst Bloch sucht nach konkreten Utopien, die noch die Möglichkeit aufweisen, zu etwas Anderem und Besserem zu werden. Darin verbirgt sich die fast imperativische Aufforderung, dass jeder einzelne Mensch ihnen nachgeht, um sie zu verwirklichen. Rainald Goetz dagegen folgt einer rekursiven Ethik der Übung. Für Goetz ist das Utopische keine noch nicht verwirklichte Möglichkeit, sondern es ist fleißiges Anreichern eines angeborenen Könnens.

Ernst Bloch is on the search for concrete utopias that still have the potential to become something different and better. Embedded within this is an almost imperative call for every human being to pursue and realize such utopias. Rainald Goetz, on the other hand, follows a recursive ethics of practice. For Goetz, the utopia is not an unrealized potential, but the diligent cultivation of an innate ability.
