Dr. Smart's research focuses on human rights, technology, and business, with a particular emphasis on business and human rights, transitional justice, and the impact of digital technology on human rights. He has authored numerous articles, book chapters, and reports on these topics. Sebastián has been a Fellow on Technology and Human Rights at Harvard University's Carr Center for Human Rights Policy for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 academic years.
