Informationen zum Autor David Greenaway is Professor of Economics and Director of the Leverhulme Centre for Research on Globalisation and Economic Policy at The University of Nottingham. Klappentext The World Economy: Global Trade Policy 2005 is the twelfth in an annual series in which leading economists provide a concise and accessible evaluation of major developments in trade and trade policy. Each annual volume examines key issues pertinent to the multinational trading system, as well as regional trade arrangements and policy developments at the national level. Each volume also provides assessments of the World Trade Organization's recent Trade Policy Reviews. The 2005 issue has, as a special theme, agriculture and the Doha Round of World Trade Organization negotiations. This started in 2001 and aims to lower barriers to trade around the world. Contributions consider popular fallacies about agricultural liberalisation and the least developed countries, agricultural trade reform and the Round, and the role of developing countries in the negotiations. This year's institutional focus is the IMF and there are assessments of four new Trade Policy Reviews by leading analysts, for the Gambia, Singapore, Turkey and the United States.
