This is the first book devoted to the topic of validity assessment in rehabilitation contexts and is written by two board certified psychologists with extensive experience in clinical neuropsychology and rehabilitation psychology. This book describes (a) why validity assessment is important, (b) validity assessment methods, and (c) special topics related to validity assessment in rehabilitation psychology (e.g., managing invalid presentations, mild traumatic brain injury, forensic and disability applications, ethical considerations). Although primarily intended for the rehabilitation psychologist who is new to the topic of validity assessment, this book is also designed to be helpful to other rehabilitation specialists, students and trainees, and psychologists experienced in validity assessment, including neuropsychologists.

Dominic A. Carone, ABPP-CN is board certified in clinical neuropsychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology. He is currently employed as a neuropsychologist and clinical associate professor in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at SUNY Upstate Medical University, where he coordinates the Neuropsychology Assessment Program. He has published numerous journal articles in psychology, neurology, and neuroimaging journals, written many book chapters, and is an editor of the book, Mild Traumatic Brain injury: Symptom Validity Assessment and Malingering. He is also the founder and webmaster of the popular medical information website, MedFriendly.com.

Shane S. Bush, PhD, ABPP is Director of Long Island Neuropsychology, P.C., a neuropsychologist with the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System, and an Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Psychology at the University of Alabama. He is board certified in Rehabilitation Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology,

Clinical Psychology, and Geropsychology. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association (Divisions 12, 18, 20, 22, 40, and 42) and a past president and fellow of the National Academy of Neuropsychology. He has published more than 20 books and journal special issues, including the co-edited volume Mild Traumatic Brain Injury: Symptom Validity Assessment and Malingering (Carone & Bush, 2013). He has also published articles, position papers, and book chapters related to validity assessment, and he has presented on this topic at national and international conferences on topics related to validity assessment. He is a veteran of both the U.S. Marine Corps and Naval Reserve.
