Modern Christian Martyrs by Deslee Campbell features missionaries, Australian nurse, Sister May Haman, and her English-born fiance Rev. Vivian Eedlich who were martyred when Japanese troops landed in Papua-New Guinea during World War II. May Hayman was Deslee's mother-in-law's friend and work colleague. They grace the front cover. May their deeds be remembered. The fourteen martyrs remembered here were from various nations and various denominations of Christianity. Deslee Campbell, a former teacher of modern history, who worked in the field of educational psychology and
counselling.
She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New South Wales, a Diploma in Education from the University of Sydney, and a Graduate Diploma in School Counselling from U.W.S/Nepean.
She was has a Masters degree fromMacquarie University in early Christian Studies and a Phd from Sydney University.
Deslee has visited Israel nine times, the first being in January 1970.
During Passover 1990 Deslee was one of three
Australians to visit the U.S.S.R.
Since 1988 Deslee, and her late husband John, .they lived with their three sons and their adopted daughter in Sydney
and attend a local Anglican Church in Sydney,
Now widowed, Deslee has four children and three grandchildren.
Her published works include the sequel novel, Love is a Journey, which follows Karen Evan's career as a nurse.
With her son, Rev. Justin Campbell, she has co-authored a major 2-volume work in the mini-series Synagogue and
