?As with other volumes in the series, coverage extends to currently published English-language serials, ' i.e., periodicals and indexes issued at least annually. The intent is to include all major periodicals of interest to historians, plus a sampling of small local journals and newsletters. Altogether, 689 titles are listed, organized under many subjects and geographical areas. In general, each entry has two parts. The first includes standard bibliographical and purchasing information, plus useful items such as microform and reprint availability, manuscript selection, and coverage by indexes and databases. The second consists of annotations that mainly focus on features which might justify the selection of a particular title.' These annotations are mostly 75 to 100 words in length, primarily descriptive, but occasionally evaluative. Four indexes conclude the volume: geographical, title, publisher, and subject....?-Choice
