Ulteriori informazioni

"Veterinary Technicians play a vital role in the recognition of pain, building and suggesting pain plans, and advocating for the patient to receive optimal care. In order to provide this service, the caregiver (veterinarian, veterinary technician/nurse, and veterinary assistant) must understand pain physiology, basic pharmacology of pain medications, and strategies for application in acute, chronic, and neuropathic pain states. This book is intended to provide a comprehensive guide to understanding and treating pain in animals, thoroughly explaining the concepts of pain physiology and management and offering proven approaches to managing pain in a wide variety of situation. The book not only cover small animals, but expand to cover horses, lab animals, and some elephants and zoo species. Currently there is one book on pain management aimed at the nurse/technician level available, but it is heavily focused on vet nurses outside the US. For techs in the US, information can largely be found as a chapter in general nursing books. The topic of pain management represents a gap in our veterinary list as a whole, and this project would complement our anesthesia titles (including Welsh, Bryant, and the upcoming Shelby book- all technician anesthesia books) well. It will appeal to vet techs in general practice as well as specialists, particularly those with an anesthesia or ECC specialty. It also has the potential to appeal to veterinary students are vets in general practice"--
