Sexual, Physical, and Emotional Abuse in Out-of-Home Care brings into the open current or past sexually, physically, or emotionally abusive behaviors between children or between children and their caregivers in out-of-home care and helps prevent future victimization. Toni Cavanagh Johnson, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice in South Pasadena, California. She has been working in the field of child abuse for 19 years as a researcher, trainer, and clinician. For the past 11 years, she has provided highly specialized treatment for children who are under 12 and have sexual behavior problems. Her research on boys and girls who molest other children has been published in Child Abuse and Neglect and her treatment program for these children appeared in the Journal of Interpersonal Violence. The author of the Child Sexuality Curriculum for Abused Children and Their Parents and Treatment Exercises for Abused Children and Children with Sexual Behavior Problems, she is the developer of a game for sexually abused and sexually agressive children and a game for victims of incest. Dr. Johnson is also co-author of the book Sexualized Children: The Assessment and Treatment of Sexualized Children and Children Who Molest.Dr. Johnson has lectured on child abuse throughout the United States and in Australia, New Zealand, South America, Europe, and Canada. She provides consultation to protective service workers, mental health professionals, attorneys, the police, probation officers, and the courts in the area of sexual victimization and perpetration.
