Descrizione
In Conscious (R)Evolution, Humanity, Insanity, and the Planet, the author brings together two powerful insights: that all life on this planet is interconnected, and that humanity's current path of consumerism and industrialization is leading to catastrophe. From deforestation to pollution, we are damaging the very environment that sustains us. This book asks us to stop and consider the bigger picture: as an intelligent species, why would we willingly destroy the planet that gave us life? With urgency and clarity, the author calls for a new way of living, one that recognizes our place in the natural world and uses our intelligence to create a better future for all.
Info autore
Raised in the "Big Easy", Michael is second the youngest in a family of ten. Looking back on his childhood, he considers that part of his life to be as normal as it could be with parents who did the best they could with what they had. Their hands were full with eight kids who, later in life all had their own opinions about the parenting skills of their folks. After high school he followed the footsteps of his friends into the Gulf of Mexico to work in the oilfield. Later in life he continued doing the same type of work in many different states across America. As time went on his expertise in performing Non-Destructive Tests greatly improved and he formed a solid inspection career. In 1992 he came home from Oregon to work in the oil and gas industry. He unexpectedly entered into a relationship with a woman he met at a lounge he shouldn't have been in. She had two grown sons from a previous marriage and two years later gave birth to their daughter. They were both ecstatic to have a beautiful baby girl, and he was glad to finally be a dad. Things went well until she secretly purchased a home where his role was that of a tenant, there to pay the bills and do repairs. He was disrespected by her sons and she no longer regarded him as the father of their child. The blossoming relationship they once had turned into poison ivy and their living arrangements became intolerable. To be a better parent to his little girl he had to move out of her home. Instantly he was trapped in a situation that could cause him to lose the one that meant the most to him, his only child. Her lawyer put in writing several inhumane allegations that made him look dangerous to the mother and the minor child. He was pulled into this vicious legal process and forced to endure the false accusations from his opposition. It was here that he became obligated to warn non-custodial parents of the anxiety and the affliction of being drawn into child custody court. In chronological order he details what it took to defeat those who became his enemies even though, he was greatly outnumbered. In the beginning he didn't know what to do and was destined to lose. He was forced to do his own investigations coupled with observations and extensive research that would clear his name. He was obedient to the court, he did the right thing and he set a good example that showed his daughter he was not the menace his opponents made him out to be. Michael goes on to tell of all the rewarding milestones his little girl accomplished in her education from the Windows 98 computer lessons, teaching her pray, how to be independent and his plan for protecting her from the problematic bullies at her school. Following court orders gave him more time to be with his little girl and save her from the emotionally damaging "effects of fatherlessness" and from there he continued being the fun dad she loved.
