Gedächtnis ist eine vernachlässigte Kategorie der soziologischen Theoriebildung. Dieser Befund ist zunächst einmal erstaunlich, wenn man sich die Virulenz des Themas in gegenwärtigen Diskussionen um gesellschaftliche Veränderungsprozesse durch neue Medien anschaut. Ziel und Aufgabe dieser Arbeit ist es zu zeigen, dass sich aus system- und netzwerktheoretischen Vorarbeiten, die mit den Namen Luhmann, Latour und White verbunden sind, eine Heuristik soziologischer Gedächtnisanalysen entwickeln lässt, die dieses Defizit beheben kann.
