All That Rises

Two neighboring families in El Paso, Texas, have plunged into a harrowing week. Rose Marie DuPre has abandoned her family. Across the street, Jerry Gonzalez and his family struggle with the sudden arrival of a difficult, long-lost sister. Even Lourdes, the Mexican maid who works in both houses, finds herself entangled in secrets, lies, and border politics that blur every boundary between them. Alma García is a writer whose award-winning short fiction has appeared in numerous anthologies. She is a past recipient of a fellowship from the Rona Jaffe Foundation. Originally from El Paso and Albuquerque, she now lives in Seattle, where she teaches fiction writing at the Hugo House and is a manuscript consultant. This is her first novel.
