Local Experiences of Connectivity and Mobility in the Ancient West-Central Mediterranean brings together chapters that explore theoretical and material approaches to connectivity and mobility in the region.

The diverse contributions span the period from the Late Bronze Age through the Late Roman period, focusing on case studies drawn from across the west-central Mediterranean basin, including Iberia, southern France, North Africa, Italy, Sicily, the Balearic Islands, Sardinia, and Corsica. Thematic sections address human mobility, material interactions, and landscapes, while introductory and concluding chapters lay out the book's agenda. Focusing on the small-scale picture, the chapters collectively illuminate how local experiences of connectivity and mobility intersect with and diverge from the dominant scholarly narratives of Greek, Phoenician, Carthaginian, and Roman trade, colonization, and imperialism. Further, they bring out common themes that emerge when approaching the west-central Mediterranean from perspectives that are broadly diachronic and regionally inclusive, not confined by traditional divisions between prehistory and the classical period or by modern borders.
