Informationen zum Autor Pam Vaughan lives with her family across from a pond on a cul-de-sac in central Massachusetts. She’s director of Whispering Pines Writers’ Retreat and co-ARA of New England’s SCBWI chapter. When she’s not writing books for kids, she loves walking in the woods and playing ice hockey. Missy Wants a Mammoth is her first book. As soon as Ariel learned how to draw a sky beyond a blue scribbled line, she knew she wanted to be an illustrator. Although raised on coloring books and crayons outside of Boston, she now lives in the south of France. Working digitally, Ariel aims to create illustrations that are imaginative, whimsical and original. She creates characters and scenes that would make a child put down an iPad and pick up a book. She is constantly drawn to themes of the underdog (sometimes an actual dog), human and animal friendships, and adventurous imagination, which you can see in her illustrations in books including the Good Dog series by Cam Higgins, Brand-New Bubbe by Sarah Aronson, and Make More S’mores by Cathy Ballou Mealey. Visit her on Instagram at @ariellandyart. Klappentext Mason tries to convince his little sister Missy that it is literally impossible to have a pet mammoth, but she is undeterred. Zusammenfassung First-grader Missy pushes the bounds of her imagination—and her older brother Mason’s patience—as she lays out her plan for a new pet. A must-have for fans of Charlie and Lola and Olivia or anyone crafting a case for why they need a new animal addition to the family. At the Museum of Natural History, first-grader Missy has a genius gigantic idea: she wants a wooly mammoth as her new pet. She’ll name him Malcolm. They’ll take bubble baths with strawberry-banana shampoo, and go on picnics, and she’ll swing from his tusks. They’ll be best friends. Older brother, Mason, spots one mammoth-sized problem with her plans. . . .  But once Missy gets an idea in her head, nothing (not even the fact that mammoths have been extinct for ten thousand years) is going to stop her from getting her fuzzy new friend. Missy and Mason are a winning new pair for the canon of sibling stories—when Missy dreams a little too big, Mason is always there to help pull her back, and when practical Mason plays it too safe, Missy helps push him to think bigger—and Missy Wants a Mammoth is sure to charm in a massive way....
