Wire is the foundation of all orthodontic appliances. Treatment success depends heavily on proper wire selection. An understanding of the well balanced relationship that exists between the applied techniques and the basic principles, leads to a broader application of skills to serve the need of orthodontics. The main aim of this book is to compile and convey a detailed knowledge about the recent advancements in orthodontic archwires and their unique characteristics properties and clinical applications. Orthodontic treatment has seen a drastic transformation in the recent decades. Metallic archwires are considered to be unesthetic and are losing appeal quickly. Also the need for more resilient wires which will provide constant and optimum forces is desirable. This book complies vary advancements in archwires. Arch wires are reviewed in the order of their development, with emphasis on specific properties and characteristics, such as strength, stiffness, range, formability and weldability. This review is done to update the current knowledge and literature about the recent advancement in archwires which serves as a tool for both further research studies and advancing clinical practice.
