Chaucer's Boccaccio

Chaucer made extensive use of Boccaccio's romances as a basis for his major works, and any analysis of his handling of his sources must depend on a knowledge of the Italian poet's work. The introduction surveys both the milieu in which boccaccio worked and the nature of Chaucer's acquaintance with his poems together with appendices giving selections from other medieval writers who contributed to the matter of Troy.
