A Literary Biography of Robin Blaser: Mechanic of Splendor is the first major study illustrating Robin Blaser's significance to North American poetry. The poet Robin Blaser (1925-2009) was an important participant in the Berkeley Renaissance of the 1950s and San Francisco poetry circles of the 1960s. Miriam Nichols is Professor in the Department of English at the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, British Columbia where she teaches modernism, American and Canadian literature, and literary theory. Her publications include scholarly editions of Robin Blaser’s
The Fire: Collected Essays and
The Holy Forest: Collected Poems (2006), and a series of essays on the New American poets,
Radical Affections: Essays on the Poetics of Outside (2010). She has also completed an edition of Blaser’s
The Astonishment Tapes (2015), an annotated transcript of a series of autobiographical audio tapes that Blaser recorded in 1974.
