"The book focuses on certain sociological dimensions of the Indian legal system, particularly the legal profession, judiciary and emergent culture of public interest litigation. Though there are numerous writings on the theme by the legal experts and jurists, but sociological treatment of the subject has been lacking. Such a focus is a dire necessity in order to shape any policy perspective, and also if the goal is to have a diagnostic understanding of the tardiness of the legal system which has often been found out of place while dealing with some pragmatic and urgent social issues.
