The book presents lab exercises of evidence analysis performed back in the crime lab or private laboratory. Distinguishing advanced analyses and testing done on all evidence had been gathered from the crime scene. This is to clearly distinguish CSIs who collect the evidence from those who work within the lab environment analyzing the various evidence submitted to such labs. The book presents lab exercises that can be completed within two-hour windows while offering the appropriate amount of content and level of rigor necessary to properly train students on procedure, methods, and the scientific process in ballistics, fingerprints, inks, hairs, the autopsy, and post-mortem interval.
