Merveldt ging bei Rain über den Lech, wandte sich über Aichach der augsburg-münchener Straße zu und nahm in Eurasburg sein Quartier. Seine Truppen waren folgendermaßen verteilt: In Affing standen 2, in Gallenbach 1, in Eurasburg 5, in Mammendorf und Greifenberg je 1 Schwadron. Die Vorposten standen in einem grofseu Halbkreis von Mühlhausen bis Mehring um Friedberg herum.
