Dès la première publication de son Traité d'economie politique, il y a plus de trente ans, et quoique je fasse bien jeune alors, mon frère me consulta sur cet important ouvrage; il désira même que sur un sujet aussi grave, je lui fisse part de mes observations, non seule ment verbalement, mais de plus par écrit; et pendant nombre d'années, nous nous sommes entretenus ensemble sur ce sujet. Il adopta souvent le sens de mes remarques; et sur les points où nous restâmes d'une opinion di¿'érente, il m'engagea à prendre le public pour arbitre entre nous.
