Lorsque, il y a prés de trois ans, je publiai ma thèse, In troduction à une édition critique du Roman d'énéas, je saisis l'occasion pour remercier tous ceux qui, d'une manière ou d'autre, avaient facilité mes recherches sur l'énéas, en premier lieu mes chers maîtres MM. A.-g. Van Hamel, Gaston Paris, Paul Meyer, Fritz Neumann. Qu'on me permette d'ajouter à ces noms celui d'un savant dont je serai pour toujours l'obligé. M. Hermann Suchier ne s'est pas contenté d'abriter ma publi cation dans sa,, Bibliotheca Normannica, il a encore eu l'ex trême bonté de revoir les feuilles, à mesure qu'elles s'impri maient, et de faire profiter mon travail de ses vastes connais sances de l'ancienne langue.
