Excerpt from Lumber Production in Colorado, 1957
Colorado sawmills produced 187, 872, 000 board feet of lumber in 1957. The long -term upward trend in lumber produc tion in Colorado is continuing. These are the conclusions of a survey recently completed by the Rocky Mountain Forest and Range Experiment Station of the Forest Service, U. S. Depart ment of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Bureau of the Census, U. S. Department of Commerce.
Mills west of the Continental Divide produced 57 percent of the State's total; most of this output came from the southern part of the subunit. Eastern Colorado mills produced the remaining 43 percent, with a heavy concentration in the two northernmost producing counties.
