Ron Johnson, an independent consultant since 1980, specializes in corporate strategy and the management of change.  He has been director of training at the Manpower Services Commission and twice vice-president (T&D) of the Institute of Personnel Management.  Over recent years his main clients have been a selection of well-known Plcs including BICC, Cadbury and British Airways.  Much of his work has been concerned with helping organizations to involve people in all areas and at all levels.  Ron has an interest in business planning and financial management.  He is author of a number of books on managing people, teamwork and business planning.  In recent years he has taken a particular interest in assisting organizations to introduce team working throughout entire operational units.  Much of his consultancy work in Europe has involved working in multinational teams and his UK teamwork development has often involved people of diverse backgrounds. David Redmond, an independent consultant since 1990, has conducted a number of consultancy assignments concerned with employee relations, training, management development adn quality programmes.  David's extensive career in human resource management in the UK and overseas culminated in his appointment as director of human resources in BOC Distribution Services, a major distribution company serving Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury, Safeway and Tesco.  During his 20 years with BOC Distribution Services David pioneered many developments in employee involvement and participation.  He took part in a number of employee involvement initiatives with the Institute of Personnel Development and the Involvement and Participation Assocation.  David has worked closely with trade unions in developing these initiatives. Ron Johnson and David Redmond are the joint authors of The Art of Empowerment - the profit and pain of employee involvement published by Pitman in 1997.
