De tan valiosas cualidades, que perpetuarán el renom bre de aquel varon insigne, sólo una traigo yo probada, y esa no con la nota de sobresaliente. La alegaré, sin em bargo, como título vuestra benevolencia, porque acredi ta cuando ménoe, de parte mia, un buen deseo de cum plir la más importante y sagrada obligacion aneja á los oficios de poeta y escritor público que me arrogué y des empeño hace ya veinticinco años. - Y con esto he llegado al tema del presente discurso.
