CSR by banking sector becomes more relevant as it is not only a pool of resources in terms of money and HR but also an expert with inclusive growth. Microfinance, is an existing, legal, valid and successful activity of any bank and has established its base even at the international level. Access to finance to poor for their financial inclusion in mainstream along with pulling them out of the clutches of dependency on money lenders was its purpose. The book identifies various CSR initiatives adopted by banking sector in India and studies social impact of microfinance on beneficiaries to find a relation between CSR & Microfinance in banks. Four dimensions impacted by microfinance: Economical & Financial; Education of Children; Empowerment; and Family Health & Welfare have been studied. The analysis should help shed some light on the multiple areas of CSR of the Indian Banking sector along with the multi-dimensional impact of microfinance. Thus, this study provides an exploratory research into the relationship between CSR and Microfinance, the two strategic activities of the Indian Banking Industry. This should be especially useful to professionals in CSR, Banking and NPO space.
