Excerpt from Masters of Old Age: The Value of Longevity Illustrated by Practical Examples
NO attempt has been made to prepare this book on a scientific plan. It is not a discussion of the contention of certain physiologists that the limit of human life should not be less than one hundred years. In a large measure it is the ever interesting story of victories over Old age and physical impairment by men and women of all classes and of varied talents. It contains many personal experiences illustrating the methods by which health and usefulness may be maintained by those of advancing years. The list of persons who have achieved honorable careers at a time of life when many suppose that work and aspirations should cease, is by no means exhaustive, but it is fairly representative of a very large number of persons who under stand, and put to a practical use, the true art of living.
