Aung Min wurde in Minbu, Ober-Myanmar, geboren. Er erwarb 1972 am Rangoon Institute of Technology einen Bachelor of Engineering im Fachbereich Maschinenbau. Eintritt in die Marine als Ingenieur bis 1992. Seit 2008, nachdem der Sturm Nargis das Land heimgesucht und Hunderttausende von Landsleuten getötet hatte, beteiligte er sich an sozialen Aktionen als einfacher Bürger.
