Recuperar la comunidad, reivindicar la soberanía. Ante las graves amenazas sociales y medioambientales en la era de la globalización, es necesario defender un Desarrollo social humano e integral fundado en la idea de la "comunidad soberana". Esta es la finalidad de nuestra obra: desde una revisión sociológica, antropológica e historiográfica analizamos esta propuesta ante el devenir de los logros y los riesgos de las sociedades desarrolladas: la retrospectiva del devenir del Estado del bienestar como modelo actual de la Política social; la perspectiva de la idea de Desarrollo como progreso ilimitado y sus efectos en el tiempo presente; y la prospectiva de un mundo global insostenible en su individualismo y consumismo exacerbado.
