Der frühe Verlust des eigenen Kindes wird immer von Trauer begleitet. Um die Trauerverarbeitung der Mütter zu erleichtern, sollte das Pflegepersonal die Frauen dabei unterstützen, Erinnerungen an ihr Kind zu schaffen und vor allem mittels einfühlsamer, empathischer Pflege und Kommunikation, aber auch mit ausreichenden Informationen die Pflege der Frauen so rücksichtsvoll wie möglich zu gestalten und sich dabei an den Wünschen und Forderungen der verwaisten Frauen zu orientieren.
