The Folk Legends of the People from the West Lake

This book covers ten traditional Chinese folk legends in Chinese language centering around the famous West Lake in Hangzhou, Province Zhejiang in China. The topics covered are from the daily lives of the people in Hangzhou and around the West Lake. One of the ten texts also covers the legend of Madam White Snake, a folk legend that is famous all over China and that has been covered in many Chinese operas and movies. Added to the Chinese texts in this book are a Chinese-English glossary of the words and Chinese characters used in the texts and a writing practice part for the purpose of helping Western learners of Chinese practice reading comprehension and the writing of Chinese characters.
