Les contes dont il se compose ont été re cueillis de la bouche même du peuple; je les rends exactement comme il me les a donnés j'ai fait oeuvre de collectionneur, non de cri tique. Plus tard, quand la moisson sera ter minée, nous verrons, s'il y a lieu, à vanner le grain. Aujourd'hui, j'offre au public ma gerbe telle quelle herbes et fleurs. Que si dans le nombre il s'en trouve dont le par fum soit un peu tr0p pénétrant ce sont gauloises plantes des champs et des bois; il leur faut le grand air!
